Thread: Blackberry & Apps

Hey there,

I am a long time Blackberry user and I'm still enjoying every bit of it!
But there is just one thing that bothers me.
The applications
Not only does it not have much applications but they're slow and ugly looking too
So I read something about Blackberry Playbook being able to run Android apps
Are there plans to make Blackberry OS 7 run on Android based OS too?
Or is it possible to get more out of my Blackberry?
Cause I love my Blackberry and the lack of apps are a complete waist of Hardware capability!

BB OS 7 will not get the Android Player. That will be on BB OS 10 next year. For now you will have to stick with what's in BB App World.

BlackBerry apps are absolutely amazing!! the diversified applications are so interesting and trendy that one can spend hours on them!!

Yes, the apps can be primitive at times but, take a look at our forum section on apps. You will be surprised how many apps there are.

I'm going to look at it but I won't be expecting much though...
I have a OS 7 device so alot of these apps aren't available for my model.
And still with the capability of my device I'm SURE that there's an option for apps like Angry Birds and such..
And I hate using knock off's like Angry Farm ....(eventhough I enjoy playing Fruits VS. Ninja though)

Angry Farm is horrible with it's slow frame rate. lol

Just a question ...will the Bold 9900 be getting BB OS10 (BBX)?
And will it get apps like the Droid has?

I don't think any of the new OS 7 devices will support BB OS 10.

That's heartbreaking

Quick question concerning bb apps. Do they all want "personal information" from the phone in order for them to work? I dont feel comfortable giving my contact information, audio/video files, email addresses etc just so I can play a game or use a code scanner. Are there any that dont want or need this info to work?

To answer your question, yes there are, and it's not as bad as you think. Many apps require certain permissions as a way to classify them with RIM guidelines. Unless it asks for your credit card info or passwords I would not worry about it too much. Apps that deal with contacts and BBM integration need certain privileges in order to run properly.

Lets BB 10 changes it. Developers are gearing up for their support. We will definitely see major changes and improvements. Application support will significantly improve.
