BlackBerry Storm 3 November release?? New Storm series to follow and Playbook 2?
Earlier this month we let you know that RIM has nixed the Storm 9570 "refresh" possibly due to fears it wouldn't survive long in the market, while this could be true, Jefferies & Co., a New York based analysis firm has reported that RIM is in-fact working on 3 different SKUs for three different models.
The 9570 "Refresh" is said to be one of the 3 SKUs in development, which is said to be exactly like the Storm 2 but with the 512 MB to enable BlackBerry 6 operation. The second, the one we all have been waiting for, is said to be the Storm 3, which is rumored to be launched in November. Similar to the former Storm devices, it is said to lack the surepress technology, have more memory and of course run BlackBerry 6.
The third device, similar to the iphone with a slimmer design and powered by the new QNX Neutrino mobile platform, which made its debut on the recently announced BlackBerry PlayBook, is reportedly set to be released in the first half of 2011. I certainly hope this is true, especially that the report also shows that the PlayBook, available early 2011, will also have a follow up 3G/4G version rumored to be available in 2 different sizes.
RIM begins moving their portfolio in the second half of 2011, an advantage for RIM to increase the application population in App World. It seems RIM is on the right track and developing at a faster pace and maybe this is their big break against the ever growing competition against both Android and iOS.
