Thread: Storm 3!!!

I posted this at another BB site and am going to post it here so hopefully we can build a big, decent list of ideas. Read below...
I was reading on another site that the Storm 3 is already in testing around the RIM HQs down the road from me in Waterloo.
They listed a few rumored specs and this got me thinking...RIM wanted the Torch to be the "iPhone Killer" which it obviously wasn't. Although I, and probably every other BB junky LOVES the Torch, it clearly didn't perform as well as expected sales wise.
I thought I'd start a thread with some features that we would like to see on the Storm 3 that could make it the real iPhone Killer.
Here are my ideas:

Front facing camera.
I think if they could incorporate this into their design and "copied" Apple's "Face Time" feature it could be AWESOME!!! Especially if you could video chat with BBM contacts!!!! I think that would KILL Apple's Face Time edge.

A Camera with at LEAST 8 MP
Although a phone is a phone, I would love to have an incredible digital camera at my disposal for quick needed shots or just to have. This would keep BB in the same league as some of the Android phone's cameras and is often an overlooked feature by developers for some reason.

I know, I know. Before you all tell me that I'm wrong here, there's got to be other 9530, 9550 owners out there that love it as much as I do. I think it's a great feature and honestly LOVE that I can hover or make sure I'm over the right choice before I click in. Maybe they can refine the SurePress a little to make it less buggy and make it as solid as us Storm owners want it to be...BADLY!!

I was hoping we could add to this list and maybe, just maybe some BB developers are creeping around on here and get some ideas from it.

I think the sure press should stay as well. I like it, you cannot mistakenly hit enter or switch screens.

OS 6 would be a definate, although I really like the rumour of a unique operating system just for the S3.
As much memory as possible...1 gig is a good start.
All for the front facing camera as well, as well as a higher mp.

The list can go on forever as far as a wish list goes. But this is the opportunity for RIM to really come out with something to really compete with the :AR15firing:iphone as the Storm is similar to it in all aspects.

Relying on the Torch to compete with it was a mistake. It's something new in respect to the slider and other than the touch screen, nothing similar to the :AR15firing:iphone at all.

I'm with you with regards to a unique OS, that would be AWESOME!!!!
I think they could even go crazy and make the OS look like no other BB and keep the Storm line completely on a level of it's own. It can't stray too far from the BB model because that's why we love them so much, but they could seriously come up with something just as intuitive if not more than the iPhone.

I'm asking people to tell us what YOUR FAVOURITE BB would have in/on it. What features, things, services, etc.

I like the above, especially the original OS...it definitely needs to set itself apart in that arena.

I can take or leave sure-press for one reason...the fact that unless they do something to make sure it always works, there is no point in puting it on another device.
I feel the same as you guys about it...I love it, but it makes me mad more times than satisfied with it.
No moving parts would mean less wear and tear...so my guess would be to axe it. I would rather have a phone that always performs. It's productivity

Camera has to 8mp or higher...The very least would be a gig for a processor & 8gb for apps.

That would kill the iphone, droid, and anything else out there. Anything less than the 1ghz cpu & 8gb app space is a waste of their time...I wouldn't buy it, period.

If they want to come out of the gate a complete winner and hero with me and most people I know or have talked to, then exceed those numbers, make sure it works, then boom-> win, win, end of story!

This is what I don't understand about RIM...Why don't they put out a product that just destroys the iPhone or Droids???? They clearly have the resources to do so.
I've had decent arguments with people who say you don't need a camera with any more than 5 MP, which I totally disagree with. I want at LEAST 8MP. Some people say with QUALITY parts you dont need anymore than 5 MP for a decent camera. What I want for a camera on my BB is an incredible camera I can use to take pics of anything, anywhere and then print them in poster sized prints if I so choose. A 8MP camera is going to look WAY better than a 5 MP camera in those respects any day.
I think RIM is holding on to it's business customers very tightly and are afraid to stray too far from what they've known so far.
But I wish I could tell them that there are thousands if not millions of people out there who want a multi media powerhouse for a phone. They could CLEAN UP both financially and market share wise.
If they could develop a completely different OS for the Storm or any other line of phone and turn it into the powerhouse EVERYONE is looking for, then, as Neo says, BOOM, done, period...

whatever I have the 9530 and 9550 and I love it and I just dealt with the fact that rim is just doing the bare minimum. The people running the company are all old f***s, Don't expect anything nice. Oh the commercial will be cool but after 2 months the new s3 will be 2 years behind. Thanks rim for you bare min.
