    Hello cyber skate, good question. The difference is a leaked OS is an OS that has been made by RIM but just not attached to any carrier yet. A Hybrid OS is a OS made by RIM that has been modified in a number of ways by a 3rd party to create a better running OS. A Hybrid may focus on certain functions of a OS to improve upon.

    Many times the leaked OS is not available for a certain device. So groups like OSBB and others take files from a leaked OS and combine them to improve performance or fix bugs as you stated.
