Well that 'splanes it all. I never realized that is how the whole leak process worked. Thanks for the info.:duh:
So the important question is how does one become a beta tester.
Great post! Thanks
My question is why do the different leaks come out with major things not working. IE no camera with 5.0 191, different things have happened to a lot of builds. To me this is a major problem with quality control. I understand trying to make OS better and adding different thinks but not missing major parts.
OK maybe. That is one example of one leak. There have been numerous items missing in previous OS leaks like no dial pad in one leak and it goes on and on.
I am just saying this seems like a quality control problem to me.
There is a reason they are leaks and not official releases, not sure what more I can tell you. In .114 where the dial pad was missing what is to say that wasn't tested and then that issue found, so they moved on to a new OS to test. Someone then leaked .114 to the public. I appreciate the leaks bugs and all as it gives us something to play with, and we get to glimpse what future "official releases" may hold.
The problem why a lot of these bugs we see pop up is because, like other have said, we are not meant to get these. A lot of times when they work on the OS and fix one thing, it can break something else. Thats why there are so many builds. It's not really a QC problem. Just the fact that these are not "Official" quality.
The best analogy I can think of would be, kind of like making a theme. Sometimes I will have several versions before I finally get everything ironed out. I have had themes that I had 20-30 versions before the final one. So if I leaked a early version, it would have bugs. Not because I wasn't doing quality control, but because I wasn't done getting the bugs out on that particular version.![]()
Excellent, informative post. Hopefully it will be seen by all the 'RIM leak them on purpose' conspiracy crowd.![]()
