I'm going to be blunt and honest about that BlackBerry 6 video. HATED IT. Not the OS, but the video. Hated the song. Hated the dancing. Hated the screen jumping around. The dancing was very distracting from the actual screen showing the OS. Overall way too much going on in the video to actually focus on the qualities and features of the OS itself. Would have been much easier to actually see what the OS can do without the damn thing moving all around and someone behind it dancing like an idiot to a really crappy song. You really have to focus if you want to see what the OS can actually do and admire the improvements.

You may hate that your attention is not focused on the OS itself but RIM probably did that purposely.
That's the really sad part. I actually think the OS may be impressive all on it's own...

It just seems like they took threaded SMS from 6.0, watered it down to 4.7 standards, slapped a 5.0 badge on it and gave it to us. I can almost hear the conversation at Waterloo:
RIM Employee: Mr. Lazaridis, our users are becoming restless. They say our OS is stale and boring. What should we do? We're losing customers!
Mike Lazaridis: OK, here's what we'll do. We're working on OS 6, right? Great, good. Take the threaded SMS from OS 6, put it into OS 4.7, rename it 5.0 (huge smile and winks at employee) and lets leak this for 6-9 months, then let carriers release "official" copies to users. Yeah that should buy us some time until we get OS 6 finished up.
RIM Employee: What about the issues with the Tour 9630?
Mike Lazaridis: The what? I don't know of a phone we sell by that name...

however over and above that 5. runns great with hybriding to higher builds on 8330!
i think you just have to many apps running.
Unfortunately this is the type of thing that sells to regular consumers. As much as you hate the dancing and what not, that is the type of advertising that made Apple popular. It appeals to a younger audience and if RIM wants to succeed that is what is going to have to happen. Appeal to a younger audience and try to steal some thunder away from Apple and Android. You guys might find it annoying, but it sells.
