Thread: Adobe Flash to hit BlackBerry, Android, and WebOS 2H 2010

According to an interview with Adobe’s CEO Shantanu Narayen on FOX, Flash is going to hit BlackBerry, Android, and WebOS in the 2nd half of 2010. Apparently Apple has passed on Flash, which Narayen described as a business issue, not a technology one.

It seems Adobe has plans of launching Flash on several different platforms, with the emphasis being on Tablet PC's, but certainly NOT the iPad.

Putting Flash on these devices should mean a wider range of content and applications for mobile users, including more games, videos, location-based services and social-networking sites.

We will keep you informed with additional information when it becomes available.

I thought flash would present a serious security risk to the info on the device? Is this not the case anymore?

IMO I don't think RIM would allow that to happen. BB will still be the most secure device without a doubt. My question is, how are the carriers feeling about this? I think the iphone was left out because it's already a data hog as it is now. Can you imagine with Flash? I bet there will be some serious Network issues the day Flash is launched.

Actually the iPhone was left out because Apple is anti flash. They dont support it on the iPad either. Flash has also removed iPhone/iTouch tools that allowed flash programs to be ported to them. I kinda think that this is going to screw them over.

The second half of 2010 is going to be pretty monumental for the Blackberry experience. First we get word that OS 6.0 will drop this summer and then we have word that Flash will finally be supported by Blackberry devices before 2011. I have been waiting for this for almost a year, since it was unofficially announced. Now its almost here! I just wonder if RIM is going to make OS 6.0 capable to handle Flash, or will this be a none issue? Or do they try and pull a sneaky one and delay 6.0 until Flash is fully supported by Blackberrys? Things to think about, IMO
