Purchasing question

Hey everyone. I am looking to get my girlfriend a blackberry. She is a nurse and is not the most delicate person especially with her cell phones. I have a storm and I do love it, but I am thinking it may be a little to delicate for her. We have Verizon and they have the 8100 pearl, 8300 curve and 8800 WE. What would be your recommendations for her? I was looking through the blackberries on EBay and noticed a lot were CDMA, or GSM. I am sure these are important to look at when looking for compatible devices but what works on Verizon network? thanks for you help.

Verizon uses the CDMA network, you wont be able to use GSM phones on VZW, also here soon VZW is expected to release their own version of the Pearl Flip, that may be a good bet to get her for a BlackBerry...

For VZW currently I would recommend the 8830we, it is more for business applications though. I have heard a rumor that some time in the middle of the year VZW is going to open up their network to GSM phones. Not to mention the Tour ( Niagra ) will be out soon. So you have plenty of options

that is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much for your responses. Definitely a lot of options, but education before making a purchase is key.

While I love the Storm I think the Curve by Verizon is also a great choice. It's really easy to use and find that it can take a lickin and keep on tickin.
