    Arrow How many of you Have/don't Have phone insurance for your Storm??

    I never get phone insurance but because of the cost of this phone while in contract I am contemplating getting it .

    How many of you Have/don't Have phone insurance for your Storm??
    What does it actually cover?
    What are your thoughts/opinions on it?

    No insurance here. If it dies after 1 year of use might as well just uprade to a new device

    What if it dies before then?

    I'm more woried because this phone is allot more delicate and complex than previous dumb phones..
    More to go wrong easier to brake etc.

    When you buy a bb it comes with a 1 year manufacturers warranty so if it dies within a year I just DOA it

    ahh true...

    I guess it goes back to what the verizon warranty covers that the BB one dosen't.. I'm gona have to talk to a VZ rep to find out.

    I do
    VZW 4.99 a month if anything goes wrong 50 bucks for a phone/but i do the 5.99 package which is the same but it extends the manf. warrenty to the second year...ie if the hard drive would give out i could take it to the store and get it replaced for FREE
    total cost for 2 yrs 144 give or take if you get a new phone 194...cost of new storm 580..on ebay 300 if your lucky do the math...

    it covers evrything water theft damage if you run it over if you lose it no matter what 50 bucks new phone

    I work indirectly for vzw so if you need info I can get you to a web site but you have to add it with in 15 days of purchase

    This is the first phone I have ever gotten insurance on. I did it because of replacement cost that may not be covered by warranty

    I do have it. I always get insurance when the unit cost as much as this to replace. I've used it several times to on other devices but not on my Storm fortunately.
    I had a Samsung i730 that fell out of my shirt pocket into the Long Island Sound off my boat. I waved good bye as I watched it disappear into the darkness...and I had an HTC Touch that I left on my car seat, with an open sunroof, forgot, thunderstorm, the rest is history. Both times device replaced next day. $50 deductable though so you have to keep an eye on the FULL retail price of your device to make sure it stays worth it. Like when my MOTO Q started retailing at $99 it wasn’t worth the insurance anymore.

    I have insurance. I am notoriously hard on a cell phone and with the replacement cost of this thing it is definitely a good investment for me. Thank goodness I have not had to use it yet, but better safe then sorry.

    I definitely have insurance on mine. The good thing about the insurance is that it covers ANYTHING. I had it on a previous phone... that got dropped in a bucket of water. Normal manufacturer's warranty in no way will cover this. Cracked screen? Yup, the insurance covers this. Not the mfr's warranty. The insurance covers ANYTHING that may happen to your phone. Chewed up by a dog? Yup... covered(I know this from personal experience). All in all it is well worth the cost of $5-6/month(i forget the exact price)... but if you have Verizon you want the Assurion insurance plan. $50 deductible. Takes maybe 2 days to get your new phone. I got my previous phone the day after I filed the claim.... and I filed the claim at about 5:30 in the evening. I can't say enough about how awesome having insurance is.

    Well thanks for all the comments..

    I'm going to go ahead and give Verizon a call.

    I have had it longer than 15 days but I know it has been under 1 month so I will see what they have to say.


    EDIT:
    It's actually been 17 days and they are giving me a hard time about it. Someone is supposed to contact me within 3 days. I may have to return and re buy the phone in order to get the insurance.

    Busted or cracked screen isn't covered by warranty. Mine is covered by insurance.

    Keep at them I chose not to have insurance when I bought mine, then had a change of heart after 4 months. What I did was email verizon for the my account page and just told them I was not offered insurance when I bought it. Now I see some of the storms are having problems and I just want to be covered "in case". I recieved a response the next day saying she was looking into it and would let me know. About 4 days later she emailed and called me to say that she was able to add insurance to my account. One the the reasons I have stayed and will never leave Verizon. Outstanding customer service and they have never failed me yet, and I have been a customer since the brick phone days with airtouch.
