BlackBerry Curve 8910 - an Curve 8900 replacement coming soon?
Now don't drool too much, this isn't the most exciting news, but a new device is rumored to be in the works. It looks like RIM is working on an updated generation of the Curve 8900 series. The new device, the 8910, has been outed on a document published on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group's web site. Though, no image or other details about the new device are on the web page. It could be just another evolutionary step in the 8900 series, much like Essex. Perhaps the device will be updated to work with T-Mobile's 3G network, and RIM's new trackpad technology as well. Can't say that I expect a to be blown away when the device is launched. But only time will tell. Hopefully more specs will leak soon and prove me wrong.
This is one series of phones I never understood. It would be ok if the 85xx line of Curves didnt come out. But what does the 89xx series have that the 85xx series doesnt? Why the need to carry both model lines?
Unfortunately the differences are fairly significant. The 8900 series has a higher resolution display (480x360 vs. 320x240). The 8900 has a better camera (3.2 vs. 2.0). The 8900 has a trackball instead of the 85XX series trackpads. Other than that, the 85XX series can connect to more network types. It comes down to preference. IMO the 8900 is truly the evolution of the 83XX Curve. Similar features but an overall improvement. The 85XX series seems to be a budget smartphone from RIM.

Still not very much information as far has hardware specs go. Of course the trackball has been replaced with a trackpad. The 8910 is said to be running OS 5.0.4+. So how long before this new Curve model launches?

is there going to be a non AWS 3G version with 850/1900? I'd love to grab this up for the better half.
