    BB Browser improvements?

Haven't heard anything about progress on RIM/Blackberry improving its native browser. After 13 months of living with my Storm 9530, I'm pretty happy with most everything EXCEPT the slow browser. I'm at a point where I can either upgrade to the 9550 or wait for the next VZW Android superphone...but I want to give the Storm2 a chance since I've come to love the mechanics and feel of my Storm1. Any word on how the browser improvements (webkit?) are going? Have any of the leaked OS's in the 5.00.4xx range shown any improvements to the browser?

The other thing I'd like to see is an improved radio and reception. Typically, I'm about 1 bar short of my wife's LG phone from my home, and we're both on Verizon.

And please don't tell me to try OperaMini or Bolt -- I actually love the way the BB Browser formats webpages with the Column View. Just need it to run faster!

    Thanks

    personal feeling only, but...

to me both, speed and radio seem to be improved. If I am in a full 3G area browsing is very smooth and responsive. And at least compared to .402 the signal intensity is much better than before - best of all (compared to .402) battery lasts much longer!

Maybe others can jump in and share their experience/feeling as well?

Your not going to see a large difference in the browser. Blackberry's we made to be email machines, RIM has promised a new browser by the end of next year.

Blackberry browser on .421 on the 9700 is still not that fast. I don't think I have seen any improvement in browser speed over the .321 or .405 OS'.

oprea is ok but I cant use it any more. I tried to use it to do things on the site and I couldnt get it to check the box's I need too. Also hate the fact that it disables the click screen.

You make a valid point I do hate the fact the click screen is disabled as well. I haven't had any issues with check boxes yet however but I haven't really visited a lot of sites that have it... For me though opera is great and I love beating the DROID in web browsing makes my friends upset lol...

Here's my suggestion to RIM. Rip the browser out and start from scratch. Or perhaps go out and purchase an iPhone, Palm or Droid and just copy verbatim what they have done. I mean come on RIM it's called webkit and it's not rocket science.

I don't think we will see a leak of just a browser. Maybe an OS that includes a new browser

I think Nepsa was referring to the BB Browser. Whereas Opera and Bolt, are third party browser. They would never come with the BlackBerry OS.
