IT Policy Workaround?
Hi Everyone,
I am helping a friend that is trying to sync her calender to either Outlook or Gmail and I've hit a brick wall. She was given an 8830 WE that has an IT Policy on the phone and neither she or her friend knew about it when the phone traded hands. The phone was personally owned but connected to a corporate network. My friend got the phone to work on Verizon and set-up her existing email addresses, one of which is Gmail, to work with the phone. All was well until the first sync using the USB cable and Outlook. The end result is all of her calender entries are now gone from Outlook but they remain intact on the phone. Bottom line is she cannot make either Outlook or her Gmail calenders sync correctly. Interestingly though, the sync function seems to work on inbound calender entries but the IT Policy obviously will not let the phone send anything outbound to either Outlook or Gmail.
The email works fine and the contact list syncs as advertised.
I am hesitant to remove the IT policy at this juncture because it will wipe the phone and she will be left with no calender entries anywhere.
What is a good work-around to get her calender entries on either Outlook or Gmail, given the constraints of the IT Policy? I was thinking of using the device switch wizard in DM to transfer the info on her phone to another BB but I'm thinking the IT Policy would also come along for the ride and I'll be in the same situation.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
