Thread: Blocking SMS messages

Does anyone know if there is a way to block sms messages from a specific phone number?

I use Addonis as a call blocker, but it doesn't block sms messages. In other words, you can block a phone number from calling you, but the same number can still send you an sms message and it goes through.

Any ideas?

I am not sure how to block SMS but I will look into this for you

gordtm, one possibility if you don't want to purchase any third party app to do this.... as long as you are ok with SMS texts which are not from any of your contacts to be blocked is to do the following:

1.) Remove the person you want to block from your list of contacts if you already haven't.
2.) Go into Options>Security Options>Firewall
3.) Set your firewall to Enabled.
4.) Check the SMS check box to block incoming messages
5.) Toward the bottom check the check box for "Except messages from...Contacts"

This will block all SMS texts sent to your phone that are not from a number stored as one of your contacts. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

Also, a free application that adds on functionality is BerryAddon. I believe this gives you further options with the firewall but it may just be for calls....Your best bet is prolly what I suggested above..... I had this installed before I went to OS 5.0.0.238 but don't have it installed now. I'll see if it will run on this OS (think it will) and take a closer look into the firewall option to refresh my memory. Meanwhile here is the OTA link:

Thanks for everyone's help.
This is exactly what I want, it's perfect. So now, I can only get text messages from people in my contact list and since the person I wanted to block is no longer included, all texts from them should be blocked.
