Thread: Switching device question

So my storm's "click" finally decided to start having problems. VZW is sending out a replacement, which means I get to switch devices. With that being said, I do have a couple questions.

1. Is there a "How To" link for switching devices that someone could point me to?
2. My current storm is unlocked. If I transfer my SIM card will my new device be unlocked or am I out luck in that regard?

Any advice from the group would be appreciated. Thanks !

you can call vzw and get your new one unlocked.... and use the device switch wizard in DM when you get the new phone.. other than that the rest will be in the box with the new phone

Thanks! Wasn't sure if it was really that easy. :duh:

yup the worst thing you will have to do is getting your pin number switched for any bought apps, or you BIS account but that has to be done through the app devolpers

For switching your pin on your purchased apps click this link which will take you to the BBOS store my account section. click support tap then my account, Log in with your mobi user name and password. This will bring up all the apps you have purchased from Mobi (both through us and CB) at the top of the list you will see "change my pin" if you have never changed your pin before, then you can change it instantly right there. If you have then you will have to email Mobi support and they will do it for you. Usually takes 1 day to so. Once that is done you can then go through the list and re download your paid apps

Thanks! I did see that. Got my replacement so time to get it done. One other question though. Is there a way to find out why my replacement phone was returned in the first place?

no.. but trust me for whatever reason they usually replace it with a new board.
