Hi everybody. Recently I purchased a BB bold 9900. I tried to upgrade it to the 7.1 OS in order to install new languages but it seems impossible. After that, I tried to get rid of the OS 7.0 which is installed on the phone so I can install the 7.1 from the beginning on and I also failed. Any suggestions on 1. Why is it impossible to upgrade the phone 2. How can I erase the OS7.0 and install the 7.1 or 3. How to install additional languages on the existing OS? (The phone came only with English, Spanish and Portuguese). Thanks
You may be trying to install a Bold 9930 software onto your Bold 9900. Keep in mind that there is a difference and there are OS 7.1 software updates for both models.
Here is the latest for the Bold 9900 that we have in our downloads center.... EU_9900_220.127.116.113 - Downloads - BlackBerryOS.com
I will try to update the phone. Let me check the procedure to see if I am doing this right.....First I will run the downloaded OS on my PC, then I have to delete the "ventor"' file and then I am going to update the phone through the Blackberry desktop manager? Am I correct?
Yes. And be sure to delete any other operating systems you have installed on your computer as well. Just leave the one installed that you are going to install on your device. If you have more than one, Desktop Software won't be able to pick up on the new one.
Unfortunately, it didn't work out. This is strange cause I followed the same steps on my 9700 and had any problems at all.
Anyhow, a few years ago, I managed to delete the OS from my 8900 and then installed from the begining on.
Is there any way to do it on my 9900 cause I am sure that there must be something wrong with the existing OS at first place.
I finally made to fix my 9900. I erased the firmware by using JL_Cmder and then I installed a newer OS version from the beginning.
Thanks though for the help Joe,
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas
Glad you got it all worked out. Thanks for the update!
Happy Holidays to you as well. :)
