    Torch 9800 - Won't start

    If this problem has already been posted, I apologize. I tried searching but could not find anything.
    Here's my problem. A while ago, after I got my new Z10, I set aside my old torch phone. It had a fully charged battery and I turned the phone off. It was like that for a few weeks. Recently, when I tried to turn it on, it wouldn't start. Pressing and holding the red power button does absolutely nothing. When I pull the battery and re-insert it, the LED turns red for about 10 seconds, then the battery icon shows with the lightening bolt. After about 30 seconds of that, a red X is displayed over the battery icon and nothing happens.

    When I plug the phone into my computer, it is recognized but I can't access the drives on it. The DM is unable to connect to it. I've tried reloading the OS both from the DM and from running the APPLOADER directly but when it gets to the point where the device needs to reboot, the same sequence of events occurs and the phone won't start up.

    I have tested the battery with a battery tester and it appears to be ok. The phone was not dropped nor did it get wet.

    I've seen lots of posts regarding the the reboot loop. This is not what I am experiencing. Nor am I getting the white screen of death or a black screen of death. The way it's behaving might indicate a bad battery, but I do not believe that is the case. As I mentioned earlier, the battery was fully charged before I put it away and it tests ok.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    First thing I would try is a new battery. Even though you tested it, that could still be the issue. Try and borrow a battery from a friend or your local cellphone store to see if that is the case.

    please, my name is chuka from Nigeria. i got a verizon wireless bb9850 that has sbeen working out well for me until now. i have repeatedly taken the phone to fix the problem in a service centre and its costing me a lot! so i got down to discover they arer using bbsak and i researched on it. my phone kips hanging on the start up screen when booting. i have the bbsak but it is not recognising my phone. i have simultaneously changed the battery and even gotten a new one to no avail. would kindly need assistance on how to solve this nagging problem please!!!! my phone is presently useless to me at the moment

    i would also appreciate if an OS 7.1 (verizon wireless compatible)for bb9850 is sent me for easy download as its extremely difficult downloading it. . thanks alot for the anticipated prompt reply.
