First the last three months I've wondered why I got the ("40721") error everytime I tried to download from app world. I thought it was cuz I didn't have a data plan with at&t... just voice and sms...but then why would I have had access to it for 6 months prior and then just stop working. I think I figured it out..
In Jan my old bb does and a guy in Austin had one he didnt use...so he unlocked his tmobile 8520 and did the necessary procedures to get it ready to give to me. So yay I had a phone again...but it was an unlocked one..so that was cool cuz i dont have andata plan or anything.. I just use wifi ...
All good till early July one of my husband's friends found a random T mobile smartphone (I dunno..it wasnt a bb tho)...and he decided to keep it or whatever ( i still think he stole it from someone tho). .........Well being idiots that we were we thought "hey let's see if this (my) sim card will work in this t mobile phone.. ( then he put the tmobile mobile sim card in my bb8520 which mighta worked, if it hadnt been unlocked for att service)....we thought it wouldnhurt to try... Lol were so used to switching out sim cards with other devices around here... My husband has 2 iphones, a pantech, and a htc... He juggles his sim all the time..
now I've been reading and educating myself on imeis and miems and ens...cuz I'm looking to buy a new BB ..but don't wanna be ripped off of on ebay and recieve a blocked phone
... Anyhow..I now know what happend. My sim went into the "stolen" phone... T mobiles network then set a block on that device...but luckily att has safeguards preventing my sim from being locked as well..
But the tmobile sim card that went into my bb phone then sent a signal to ATT to block my phone. Once its in suspense...allbthats left is blackberry access.
Then, i think at&t (my carrier) might have had to report the issue to RIM. From there i think rim can suspend the device PIN.
What does this have to do which July 10th you ask???? Well...a big light bulb lit up over my head just a while ago when I ran across this website about blacklisting.....
ATT Tracking Lost And Stolen Phones - Business Insider
And thats when it all started to make sence. Hell i could be wrong...but switching sim cards out with rival network cards, its a baaad idea...lol.
