Handset no longer default speaker option while calling

My phone stopped using the handset as the default speaker during incoming or outgoing calls. It took me a few minutes to realize that I needed to activate handset when I would receive or make calls; something I've never needed to do before. Don't remember doing anything specific to cause this problem.

I've had similar problems before when I've unplugged my headphones before stopping media playback. Reinserting the headphones and then stopping the playback solved that problem.

However, this solution didn't work in this situation.

Any ideas what I can do?

I'm running BBCM's v7.1 update 2, and have been since its public release.

I hate to suggest something this basic but have you tried a battery pull or other form of reset?

Also, what IS it defaulting to?

You are right to ask, but yes a battery pull is the first thing I tried. I even tried to wait one minutes before reinserting it.

It defaults to headphones. So I even tried my previous fix, which was to turn on the media player, insert headphones, and then stop the playback. However, no luck there either. I haven't tried reinstalling my OS, but I'd rather do that as a last resort.

Try this: phone > menu > general options > default volume > change from "previous" to any other setting. I'm stabbing in the dark but this is the only setting I can think of that affects default phone settings "in-call". Post results and we'll go from there.
