Thread: SMS on device not working

i need help with my sms it doesnt work how do i resolve this problem

Did your SMS work before? What device do you have, and what is your current OS on your device? See options... about... 3rd line down, for OS version.

Also, before we troubleshoot anything, you may want to try a battery pull restart. Take battery out of phone while phone is still on and unplugged, wait 30 seconds, put battery back in and turn phone back on.

Did the battery pull fix your SMS issue?

i have done all of that i even installed the latest os on it n nothing works . its a storm 9520

What carrier do you have?

vodafone uk

Follow these steps below to try to fix this issue.

Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey > Register Now

i followed the steps n nothing changed so whats the next thing to do

So everything on device works but SMS correct?

Have you contacted Vodafone about this issue?

nope someone told me to upgrade the os n it would fixed but i did all of that n still nothing

Looking a VF's site now, try sending a SMS message to yourself. Where Service Books sent to device after upgrade?

yes there is a service book but i c no sms in it . should there be one

As long as there is one for MMS you should be able to text. So if you see one like MMS Transport or MMS Client that should be all you need. Are you on a pay as you go plan or monthly? Please read below for info from Vodafone. Since everything else works on device it should be something on their end. Also,did you try to send a text to yourself?

The Vodafone message centre number may not be correct on your phone.

It is normally stored under message settings on your phone.
The quickstarts in Phone help will show you how to do this.
The message centre number should read +447785016005.
If this is not shown you will need to delete the current entry and enter this number.
