'Memory Leak' issues on my BOLD 9000

Hi to all,

I understand that BOLD 9000 is an old model, and it application memory space is limited, thus with newer applications costing more space. It is impossible to install many applications.

However, this is what I realize is happening to my BB. Immediately after a battery pull, and phone is booted up, the app memory space is about 14 to 15MB ( I have Whatsapp, Facebook, Opera, and a Bible apps, that's all)

Here comes the issue, sometimes it does, while sometimes it doesn't. At times, the app memory will drop to a few KB(s) or ZERO even! It lags so badly, that I have to do a battery pull.

Here are the background information about my phone & carrier:

1. Model: BOLD 9000
2. Software version: v5.0.0.822
3. Platform version: 5.2.0.76
4. Service provider: Starhub Pte Ltd (Singapore)
5. Third Party apps: Bible, Crystal Shape (Theme), Opera Mini, Whatsapp Messenger
6. Add-on: Facebook, Documents-to-go, Word Mole (game)

Is there any way to resolve this?

I have a couple of options for you, for one, an OS update will greatly improve your BlackBerry Bold 9000 performance and battery life take a look at this Official OS update 5.0.0.1079, which is more updated than your current OS 5.0.0.822.

So updating an OS should be fine right?

The usual steps of backing up data, using Blackberry Protect & Backup with DM. Followed by updating OS using DM is it?
any articles for step by step guide?

Also, the OS update is for T-mobile users, whereas I'm a Starhub (Singapore) users. Is that okay?

Are you closing out apps after using them? That means pushing bb button, then select close from menu list.

And yes I did as what you have mention, but realized the application memory still drops. Like just now, from 10.3MB to 9.5MB within a few minutes?

You could try as GR advised and update your OS. Otherwise not much you can do with a older device.

Also, sometimes wiping and updating the device can get rid of a bunch of junk that has been affecting your phone's speed.

But just 1 more important question, the OS he recommended was for T-mobile users, but I'm not a T-mobile user. Is that alright?

It was very late when I posted my first response, so I apologize to isaacng88.

There is another option to save additional application memory for your BlackBerry Bold 9000 device, isaacng88 , read thread BBH-Tool v2.4.9.5

I have personally used the BBH-Tool, when used correctly, it can save you quite a bit of application memory, and so much more.

This option above, is to be used with caution, if not used properly, can potentially brick your BlackBerry Bold 9000 device, so I highly suggest you backup your device with BlackBerry Desktop Software .

I hope this may solve your issue of internal device memory for your BlackBerry Bold 9000 device.
