SOS! 8100 wont bootup LED just flashes

Today i decided to try my old 8100 just to see if it still works, its been in a desk drawer for god knows how long. Now when power is connected it doesnt power up, but flashes a code with the led. The code is flash flash flash pause flash flash - I have searched every forum for hours on so many sites and I cant find anything. I have tried javaloader, jl_cmdr, & bbmcp to wipe but when i connect it to the pc there is absolutly no response, not even that sound that lets you know a new device has been conneted. The phone will start the error flashes when plugged in via USB but the computer will not recognize that the berry is plugged in. PLEASE HELP!
Ive seen a few post with similar LED flashing but they all seemed to have gotten water damage. but my bb hasnt been in or near water.
Does anyone know of any list or website that can decode these error flashes and tell me whats going on?

Yeah...isn't there a warning somewhere that says that you should remove the battery if you are keeping it off for a long period of time?

Has it turned on? If not, it could be a drained battery. Sure, its been charging, but it could be that the particles in the battery have 'expired'. Tell us if it gets working again, then we can check it out

Here is a simple battery diagnostic procedure: take the battery out of the BB, with the battery out, plug it in to your computer, fire up JL_commander and try to wipe the device, if it will not wipe the BB is dead, if it wipes and then shows a 504 error, reinstall the OS, if it wipes but will not restart with the battery inserted, replace the battery.

This fix attempt has been successful in the past:

"first remove the battery from the device for a minute, and put it back in.
Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the USB cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage). If it doesn't reboot on the first attempt, leave it several more hours. I've had one charge for two days before it came back to life after an extreme battery depletion. Every 3-4 hours, with the device still connected to the charger, you can remove and replace the battery to see if it reboots."

Teostar, the reason we are so concerned about the battery is it has been depleted and left without a charge for so long that its possible it has been damaged. L-ion batterys become damaged with complete discharge cycles, letting an empty battery sit around can damage it beyond repair. L-ion batterys are stored properly with a 75% charge, proper use is recharging before the battery falls below a 50% charge. It is quite possible your battery has been damaged, but it may repair itsself by following Ghostryders suggestion and the battery diagnostic I detailed earlier.

Also, an 8100 battery is less than US $10 with shipping on Amazon, its an easy, cheap fix if nessicary.
