    Default 8900 Trackball issues

I recently loaded a Official OS to my old Curve (not used anymore). This was just me experimenting, all went well. And it all works until I place my Sim in the Device, then the Trackball freezes. The Sim is ok I'm using it now on my 9780,the OS is OS5. I did think to load an older OS, or is it a carrier issue (blocked). Funny because Vodafone did offer to buy my 8900 back when I got my Bold. Any ideas?
    Thanks Alan

The SIM shouldn't cause trackball to freeze. Have you tried wiping phone & reloading OS?

    Update on my 8900 Saga.
Well it Seems that Javelins have this common fault, if it was in constant use then I'd fit a new Trackball. But all my faithful old BB is, now just a Emergency phone. So what I did was go into options, and disable 'Dial from Homescreen' and it worked. Using the keyboard shortcuts, to navigate the various functions. In the future I might well fit a Trackball. I thought this may be useful to some one should their Trackball give up.

Nice workaround, thanks for sharing. I'm sure this has hit other users as well. RIP old faithful.

Well it had too happen my Javelin ( Old faithful), sitting there saying "investigate" my Trackball issue. Normally, and I recommend you follow the dismantle instructional videos, you basically unscrew the Body from the rear. But if your careful, and I mean careful, there's another way. I prised off the keyboard and you can just remove the Trackball/sensor assembly. I cleaned the Trackball and refitted it, no change. Looks like I will replace the Trackball and sensor, at a later date. All flex cables connections seem ok must be the TB and sensor assembly. I believe you can buy these parts online, as service parts about $35USD Ill keep you posted
