Thread: BlackBerry MAPS issue

I have come across this today that a client of mine updated device OS on a 9700 and lost the icon for bbmaps, now I have duplicated his issue in a 9550 on .607 by deleting the app and reloading it ota via bb.com but it only gives the lbs_ribbon.cod file, even after resending service books as the service books was missing still no solution for a OTA fix, tried reloading the service via loader.exe.


I figure I can probably get it going through BBSAK but I am not with my client and I would rather make him do all the work.

Any ideas for a OTA fix or a non bbsak fix?

I haven't had this issue (I don't even have a BB) But, I will bring it to higher notice and see if they have any resolutions.

I found this link on CB some times back. It works in case you want to try its for AT&T.

I am having this same issue and have been having it since day one of getting my 9550. BlackBerry Maps was working fine on my 9530 but no luck whats so ever on my new 9550 which I have had since Jan. 2010. Any help would be appreciated!

Start out by going to options>advanced options>gps. Make sure data source says device gps. Make sure gps services say location on. Make sure that location aiding is enabled. Those are the settings i have set and all works well.

I checked out everything you said and everything is in order. My google maps gives me no trouble what so ever. But I want to be able to use BlackBerry Apps. Don't understand this issue!

I dont know if your issue is sorted out yet but here is my advice:

Disconnect from the internet ensuring you have only one OS installed on your PC.
(It must also be the same OS thats installed on your BB or it will cause problems)

Plug the phone into Desktop Manager (DM).
Don't do any updates or anything from the start up of DM/plugging the phone in.
From the app loader menu you will be able to select individual items to reinstall - in this case BB Maps.

As you switch it from the box on the left to the box on the right it will load into the BB.

As long as the relevant file system (same one as he/she is running on the BB) is on the PC and he is disconected from the internet, it will update from the PC loaded files only.
