Thread: Can you sync and email account to two different blackberrys?

Can you sync and email account (live, hotmail, gmail, etc) to two different blackberrys?

For example:

Blackberry #1 has:
X's personal email
family/junk/bulk email

Blackberry #2 has:
Y's personal email
family/junk/bulk email

Will the family/junk/bulk go to both devices or can you set it up on just one?

That is a tough one.. I want to say I dont see why not but then again i can think of a few errors it could cause. As long as its leaving a copy on the server though I dont see why it couldnt do that.

There are only dumb answers, not questions

Afaik, it should not be a prob if you are on BIS to selectively active the different mail accounts individually for your berries...

With no doubt you can, it works just the same as outlook, diff pc, same emails coming in this case, same email diff berrys

You could create a 'dummy' (no reference to your title :haha: ) gmail account and adjust the settings in gmail to send a copy of each email to the dummy account and sync the other berry to that one.

Thats what I do.. because I have like 300 email addresses.. (No, Im not kidding) and I have them all forwarded to one account, that I have set up on my Blackberry!

Are all of you 100%??? Because when i lost my old device, got a new one, then tried to add Gmail to it. BIS told me that address is matched with a different device. I had to call AT&T and have them turn the BIS on old device off. Then I retired and it worked.

In this case, you were logging into the same BIS account with a different device. You cannot have two different devices logged into the same BIS account at the same time.

The OP wants each phone to receive email from the same address. Each phone will have its own separate BIS login, and will be able to share the family email. You just can't have the same @blackberry.net email on two devices at once.

I don't know that the OP is asking about setting up a shared BIS. Essentially what needs to happen is that the user should forward X's personal email, family/junk/bulk to one BIS and then Y's personal email, family/junk/bulk to the other BIS. Then everyone will get the emails from all the family/junk/bulk account. Just set it up to leave a copy on the server and each phone would retrieve the emails from the bulk account.

I know you have gotten several responses here. But there is no reason you could not use a shared email account. A simple forward to your blackberry email address will do the trick.

Thanks for all the replies. We'll just give it a shot and see what happens.
We will have two separate BIS acct. Basically what it boils down to we have an email acct that all of our banking/e-bills, etc run through. We would both like access to it.
I never thought about forwarding a copy to each of our addresses. Thanks again.

That would be the simplest way. Make sure to select "leave a copy on the server" though.

The email account will treat this as if it were somebody logging in on separate machines, such as; if you were logged in on your pc and your blackberry at the same time. In most cases this will work without problems.
As far as filtering the mail, I am uncertain as to how that would be done with regards to sending the junk/bulk mail to one device and "good" emails to another. I'd lie to know how to do that, myself..... maybe send all my junk mail to my ex-wife? hehe!
