Thread: Outlook and Calendar Question

My best friend, who is German and lives in Germany, had a couple of questions that I really didn't know the answer to because I don't use Outlook. Keep in mind, not that it matters, he's looking at getting the European version of the Tour. Here is his email:

Need some important information: Can you synchronize your BB with Outlook? Can you set a date on your BB calendar and send it right via email so that my Outlook does overtake that date in my Outlook Calendar automatically?

Can you read MS Word documents on your BB and change and save them? Also the same with MS Excel?

Any help would be appreciated it.

You can not wirelessly sync with out look unless you are on BES but you can plug the phone into the PC and sync contacts and calendar, as far as the other stuff you can veiw them but he would need to purchase docs togo premium to edit them. hope that helps

Yes, using Documents to go. (premium version works best for editing although the standard (free) version does permit limited editing and saving)

Not exactly sure what he's asking re Outlook calendar but I think the answer is also yes to that question. If on BIS he needs to wire up to PC to synch everything.

Thanks...have no idea if he's gonna be on a BIS or BES system?

One workaround I use to sync with outlook is I use google sync on my desktop to sync outlook with my google calender, then I use google sync on by BB to sync google calender with BB calender. I rarely ever use the cable to sync.

Okay...say my friend will be on BES. Will be able to sync his BB calendar with his Outlook calendar wireless?

Breiti...danke! Can you PM me your personal email address so that I can have him contact you? He's VERY IT savy (smart) but he's never had a BB. I'm pretty sure he'll be on BES, but not 100% positive.
