    Upgrade Failure at Loading RAM

I have upgrade BB's many times but my wife recently got an iMac. I have loaded VMWare Fusion and an XP installation on that. I can use Desktop Manager and do just about anything but when I tried to Upgrade OS things kept locking up at "loading RAM" stage.
It's as if the XP install on VMWare loses control of the USB port when the 9700 reboots or momentarily shuts down.

I have seen other posts about using USB ports on hubs - the iMac ONLY has USB ports on the back of the monitor.

Has anyone else successfully loaded an OS on an iMac using WMWare Fusion and Windows XP ???

I had the same problems as you. My Storm 1 had no issues but when I got the Tour and Storm 2 VMware totally crapped out on me. In order to get it to load you will need to use either Boot Camp or a PC.

Thanks for the reply. Did you just add Boot Camp in addition to VMWare (kinda off subject but just thinking about logistics) ?

If there is anything you have on VMware well the partition you created make sure to back it up. Run boot camp assistant it will recognize you already have a partition and will ask you if you want to remove. Say yes to this. Once that partition is removed boot camp will install. So to answer your question you cannot have boot camp and VMware installed at the same time (at least not that I am aware of).

VMWare Fusion is soooo convenient so I'm gonna leave it but I'll try to add the other just in case someone else runs into the problem then we will already know. Is XP the best OS to put on Boot Camp or should I put Vista ??

It really comes down to personal preference. But I wouldn't say one works better with Boot Camp. I like XP but you can use anything you want on it.
