Telus getting ready for HSPA
Looks like Telus is ready to add HSPA to their 3G. One of our sources was nice enough to take this screen shot of their computer screen at work. This will give Telus users faster download speeds of up to 14Mb/s and up to 5.8Mb/s upload speeds. They will join the other carriers now who have been using the HSPA with their 3G. Once we get more information on this we will add an update.

This really makes Tmobile's data network look bad.

You are right, I have played with devices that use TMO's 3G and it's awful. Using a speed test it clocked a wicked fast 220kb down and 96kb up.

Hhhmmm in that picture I can see that there is a space to enter SIM # does that mean that Telus now support GSM phones? If so this might support the rumor that the "you know what phone" is coming to Telus?

It's very possible! That being said Apple is working on CDMA variant for their iPhone that would work on CDMA here in the US and GMS/UMTS overseas. And that phone is rumored to be heading to VZW.

I have heard the same as well jlevy but I would like to add this. This variant I heard would be a very basic stripped down model of the current iPhone. I'll try and find the article I read comparing the two. Of course it was all speculation.

This is an excerpt from MSNBC:
Quote:
The addition of the country’s largest mobile operator as an additional channel for Apple would handle that nicely. However, there are a lot of obstacles and ‘what ifs’ in the way.
“The iPhone brand could not be a part of the deal, and Apple and Verizon would need to be cautious in how a voice/data terminal (such as a media pad) is positioned so that it doesn’t violate the AT&T exclusivity deal.”
A smaller, thinner iPhone “lite” and a “media pad” that could be used to make calls over Wi-Fi connection are in the works, according to a source who has seen the devices’ prototypes,

I agree jlevy..It's VZW....Nothing more to say. They know they are the best game in town when it comes to coverage.

Thanks Michael. Still sounds interesting and would be a major boom for VZW. I can just hear AT&T crying right now.

Does anybody know why the Storm and Tour have HSPA GSM radios in them, but if you unlock them, they will only get EDGE?
