In order to use my Google number effectively with VZW's circle of friends option, I would have to mark Google's caller id as I have showned here below, otherwise I would be using minutes on my incoming calls if they were not either a VZW customer, and or a circle of my friends' number.

That must be unique to VZN... I have mine set to show caller's ID on TMO and have used 1000+ minutes on their 300 minute plan w/o any overage charges.

I just set up my account and activated my Google phone number. I noticed there is a $0.10 charge to my account.
Are they charging me for this thing? and where are they charging it to, my Verizon account?

It's not a charge, it's a credit. Click on "history" (below the balance) and it will give you the detail.
GV is free unless you choose to make international calls.

Is there something I should know about using software like this and vlingo? I tried to tell it to text my wife and it doesn't understand me. Is there key words you have to use?

this may some people
Google Voice: Placing a call
There are three ways to make outbound calls that display your Google Voice phone number:
From your BlackBerry Address Book, select your contact, press the menu button, and then choose to Call via Google Voice.
Alternately, you can dial a number through the Google Voice application:
Launch Google Voice for BlackBerry.
Select the Dialer tab.
Enter any phone number (1-xxx-xxx-xxxx for US numbers and +cc xxxxxx for international numbers) and press the green Call button on your BlackBerry.
The caller ID displayed to the person you're calling will be your Google Voice phone number.
Lastly, you can also place a call by selecting one of the recent calls or SMS messages, pressing the menu button, and then choosing Call.

here is some more info on it
Google Voice: Sending SMS messages
You can send SMS messages that display your Google Voice phone number to the person you're messaging through one of following ways:
From your BlackBerry Address Book, select your contact, press the menu button, and then choose SMS via Google Voice.
From the Google Voice application:
Launch Google Voice for BlackBerry.
Select the Dialer tab.
Enter the person's number, press the menu button, and select SMS via Google Voice.
Compose your message, press the menu button again, and click Send.
You can also select one of the recent phone numbers, press the menu button, and select SMS via Google Voice.
SMS messages will be sent through your data plan, as opposed to your SMS plan, so there won't be any SMS charges. Replies will come to your mobile phone directly if you have it listed as one of your fowarding phones. Depending on your carrier, you may be charged for your received SMS messages.
