Default Cannot send ringtones through MMS...

Every time I send a ringtone to one of my friends they never receive it. They say it keeps trying to send it as a picture. I'm using a BlackBerry Storm. Any ideas on why the sounds won't send through?

I assume you are trying to send short ringtones and not long ones correct? What kind of phone do they have? Are they on the same network?

I just sent one to my wife's dumb phone and it worked fine, it says pic/video message but it is the ringtone and it plays fine.

agreed, some dumb phones automatically recognize mms as a picture message. i have sent ringtones to dumb phones and depending on the phone... some dont even have an option to save it?!

It is a small ringtone. I think it is only like 34kb. My sister has the Chocolate and my buddy is using the Voyager. They are both on Verizon. It doesn't make any sense. I check the message after I send it and the ringtone isn't even attached. Arrgh!

It almost seems like something is wrong with my phone. It is attached and I can play the sound from the MMS before sending, but when I check the sent message afterward it is blank.

I asked them the same thing. They say the message is blank. The only thing that they see is the file name as the subject. I don't know... Both phones should be able to receive it.

Yeah they should be able to receive it as most phones on vzw support mms. What format is it in? Are you attaching it from ringtones or from messages?

It sends them as .mp3 format, but I thought the files were .wavs... I have tried attaching the files from ringtones and from the actual text message. Same results both times. This is so weird.

That's weird. Try updating PRL (*22899 send). If you keep having the issue, I would recommend a wipe/reinstall (first security wipe, then BBSAK or JL). If still an issue, I would suspect hardware. Hope this helps.

I tried *22899, but no success. I did a complete wipe (security and with BBSAK) lastnight so they can't be it. Is there maybe something I got rid of with lyrical's BBShrink?

Did you make sure to put the BlackBerry Attachment Service back on loading the OS?

I doubt it but possible. You can test by putting all javas from removed folder back into pa java and run app loader.

Justin, try a wipe and reload. That would be my suggestion at this point. May be try doing a security wipe, jl or bbsak, load .75, then straight to .148 then the OS that you want but without wiping. It should flash your phone to factory. I would give it a try.
