Default Trackball Test

I've been having problems moving through the menus on my Tour. I figured it was because I had been using the Storm for so long that I forgot how to use the trackball. (Not forgot... just rusty) Anyways, I was surfing through the internet when I came across article about the Tour's trackball being faulty on some devices. Now I've heard about the battery door and mine is tight as can be but I hadn't heard about this trackball issue.

Anyways... here's how to test:

Go to: Options>Status>And type in test

Once you've done that it should bring up a menu with a bunch of different test options. Select the keyboard and trackball options. Just skip the keyboard test and go to trackball. Once there scroll your ball as fast as u can in every direction. You should get numbers 4-6 (according to the article) if your getting numbers lower than 4, then your ball is defective. I've read where Verizon will just exchange the device for a new one in store. I don't know that for sure though, I am on my way there now. I'll post my results with Verizon after I return.

Hope this helps someone!

Great info freebirds87,

Keep us posted as to what VZW says that they will do.
My Tour has been acting funny when it comes to the trackball.

Do you know if it matters what the trackball sensitivity is set at when you do the test?

Well said....

Question is...why are you surfing a site that promotes hotrodding BB's?

By your own admission...."because I dont play and do things like load unauthorized OSs ets."

Just an observation.

BTW...I don't think hardware issues have anything to do with leaked OS's....

BTW...it's "etc"...lol

Yes it does matter but nobody tells you the entire truth before telling you to test yout TB abd then go waste a VZW reps time exchanging your phone.

Snesitivity settings on the screen/keyboard make a big difference.

Mine is set at 60/60 and i have nothing but flawless movement and I AM NOT saying people dont have legit complaints, but make sure they are legit first.

I simply mean that loading Carrier unauthorized OSs if just an invitation unfortunate or it would not be a leak and it would be released as "Official"
That is all I meant, Nothing more

lol....

yup....nothing wrong with the trackball...

I am sure its user error

No one has reported ANY trackball issues on the Tour...
No one has had any Tour replaced by the carrier
Rim has NEVER said that there was a manufacturing issue and that new Tours with the new trackball/issue solved would be shipped with a green dot...

LMAO

Good advice

from what I have read online today... now mind you I have been able to find noting official. 1 2 3 4 5 6.. what ever you get is the amount of spaces that you would have moved in the time it took to register on the device. As long as you get a number instantly your trackball is good. the numbers will vary user to user depending on the sensitivity settings. Again I say... this is not official or even 90% true just what I have been able to find today.

Some people have trackball issues, some do. There were two batches of Tours that were produced. One batch had the trackball issue and the others did not. I happen to be the one with a trackball issue.
