The Official BBM 5.0 Help Thread
Due to legal issues regarding the Blackberry Messenger 5.0 and the
leaked Operating Softoware for the Storm, we have removed these files
off of our berryOSfiles.com server.
This has been very unfortunate however, we are doing what is best for the site.

Wirelessly posted (Bold 9000 )
Thanks Josh.
To start please everyone
if you are looking for help we need some basic info from you, Device, OS and a brief Description of the problem
Second FYI's
it works on 8330 running OS 4.5.0.138 and higher.
8900 and Bold users running 5.0 use the files for 4.7.1 Tour
8220 users use the files for 4.6
81xx users use files for 4.5 again, the higher your OS is, the more chances you have
Thank you everyone.

Thanks Jlevy and E,
I'm happy to announce the introduction of my new BB. The 9630 Tour.
What do we know about the new BBM 5.0 and 4.1.7.40 OS.
Are they playing nice or do I need to make some adjustments?

To install it on my girls 8900, I had to do it manually...copy the alx file to the os folder, and copied all the .cod files to the java folder...then opened up apploader.exe and ran it...finally took...dm, and the ota (curve and tour) would not work for me...

The only problem I have had along with a few others is that it seems tweetgenius needs to be delete and reinstalled after you installed BBM 5.0

Thank you sir. Are you still using BBM 5.0. I thought I saw some users were having issues on the 9630.

i installed bbm5 over bbc's hybrid 7.1.4 and they work together perfectly fine. now if RIM can get their sms/mms conversations to resemble that of the bbm5 conversations, i'd be a VERY happy camper.

Wow...Had to do the same thing for the VZW store I got my 9630 from this morning. I felt sorry for all the customers that were coming in. I even had the store manager taking notes. I think it must have been my Black BBOS T-shirt I had on. . It was like a big football huttle up.

Okay, So I've just finished using the OTA for my 9630 Tour Device with the official VZW 4.7.1.40 OS. The entire installation went off without a hitch.
My first step was to copy/paste the OTA link that JLevy post up in Post #11 to an email that I composed in my mail agent on my PC. I sent that email along with that OTA link to my 9630. Once the email was received, I simply selected the link and the browser went directly to the download. The download was then initiated and installed in around 2 minutes. After the installation, the device required a reboot which I preformed.
I am happy to report that BBM 5.0.8 is now installed on my new 9630 Tour.
Happy BBM'ing

Hello jana and Welcome to BBOS.
I'm sorry to hear that you are not having a good experience with the new BBM.
May I ask what issues are you currently seeing on your 9630 and ho long have you had it installed on your Tour?
On last question would be have you tried an extended battery pull on your device since you have installed the BBM 5.0?
Thanks

I didn't care for it either so you are not alone
The way I had to do it was delete your OS off your PC then install a fresh copy, now delete messenger off you phone (be sure to back up since this will wipe your BBM contacts) then plug your phone into your pc and run app loader and it will install the previous version. Then restore and you are all set

the way i did this was to DL the file, unzip it, then opened DM, Application Loader, and selected Browse. Pointed it to the first .alx file, and it loaded just fine on mine.
