Stuck in a loop!!

I recently upgraded to OS 5.0.0.314 on my Bold 9000.
I did not have the internet browser followed your steps and everything worked perfectly except I had the media issue mentioned later in this thread. Followed the instructions and resolved the media issue only to find out I no longer had the Internet browser after I did that. Have tried both multiple times but seems like I can't have both media and browser at the same time.

Any ideas?

Removing unnecessary files from the OS prior to installing using a program called Shrink-A-OS

No I didn't do that. This is my second attempt at a 5.0 OS I may just have to roll back until AT&T comes out with an official release.

Have you tried resending your service books and re-registering the HRT?

I did some more attempts and did get it to work finally, but if the media fix has to be done every time I reboot that may be a deal breaker for me.

The .ipd file is a file that your PC creates when installing an OS through Desktop Manager or AppLoader.exe...

It should be located in My Documents...

So Ive taken these steps to a T and after restarting each time I get this error: Uncaught Exception: A browser content provider for video/3gpp MIME type has already been registered with the browser. I can not use any media. I did take the steps listed within previous postings for the media and that caused me to have a Network Error when trying to use UberTwitter but the media did work. Please help. I would rather have media net over not being able to use my media.

Default Opps I read the post above

So I read the post above where someone had the same issue as me, how does Shrink-a-os work and where can I find it. Do you happen to know if this would actually allow me to have the browser and media?

Default Service Book / Browser Fix 9550 / 9530

Any clues?

Hi, forget all the crackutil crap and BBSAK crap - here is what you need to do - go to options / advanced options / service books - show your keyboard - type 4?2? - you will get a message "Legasy SB Enabled" - then connect to desktop manager - go to restore - advanced - now open and load the att service books provided in the artical that did not work - move them over to to your phone and then send service books to get your mail back - FIXED! Now go to browser options, and you will see you can select Internet browser, Hot Spot browser, Blackberry browser ...... Your best choice is Internet Browser. Sometimes on reboot you have to do this again with some 9550's you should not have to reboot very often, seems sometimes on reboot for some reason the service books are overwritten

Good Luck ;o)

Thanks sdln28 and Morganizer, I was able to get back the Blackberry browser on both my wife's 8900 and my 9700. both running os 5.0

total process took 2 mins for both devices! thanks to sdln.

This is what i did... in case it helps someone...

When the phone restarts, go to Options > Advanced Options > Service Books. Then press and hold Alt + {A/S}{A/S}{B/N}{E/R}{B/N} (on QWERTY phones: Alt + {S}{B}{E}{B}). A message reading Legacy SB Restore Enabled should appear on your screen.

Open the Blackberry Desktop Manager, then select Backup and Restore, then Advanced, open backup file (.ipd) containing SB to load into BlackBerry, click on ">>" button.

The at&t SB file is attached at the start of this thread.

Default Cincinnati Bell 8900 Browser Issues

I am able to access the BIS site and resend Service Books to device, and I can access the Send Service Books prompt from my device itself, but I am not sure how to get the service book .ipd file in order to reload onto my device using DM after I Remove the COD file in BBSAK.

Can I:
a.) use the AT&T Service Book .ipd file, or
b.) somehow use a previous device backup to load old Cincinnati Bell Service Books?

Please let me know if I am on the right track here or not.

Thanks!

Yes. If you go to Back up & Restore in DM, then choose the advanced option. From there, on the left, side click on file > Open, and open the backed up file. Then select the Service Book category on the left, and transfer it to your device.

Thanks Sunkast. I tried using a previous Device Backup .ipd file as the source of the Service Books (in place of the AT&T Service Book .ipd file suggested in the Fix Steps).

I completed the rest of the steps, did a battery pull and resent my Service Books (from the BIS site). However I still do not have any of the Browser options (Internet Browser instead of the current setting "CBW Internet"; as well as other non-WAP Browser features).

I think you will need to try service books from another carrier, if you are using a 5.0 OS and the service books have not been updated to reflect that on the carrier they will not work. If that doesnt work plug your phone into the pc open DM click on backup/restore then click advanced. in the left pane open up your last working backup with service books. then scroll down until you find service books, highlight them then click the >>> button.
