We need to know your OS # on your curve first
ON your phone go to
options>about and what is your Version number listed there?

I have a 8350i and I updated my DM to 5 and my phone is up to date 4.6.1.204. I downloaded the bbm5 and moved the files to java and the one to the other folder. Everything went good and it shows on DM in my phone's apps but there is not an icon in my phone. Please help me.

Hi big joe,
I have a couple suggestions for you
have you done a battery pull?
have you checked in your instant messaging folder on the homescreen
finally have a look here
options > advance options > applications see if it's in the list

Welcome to BlackberryOS Joe. Did you download the 4.6.1 version of BBM? I talked to somebody a couple days ago that had an 8350. They downloaded the version for the Curve and had the same problem you did. The issue is that the Curve version is not the correct version for an 8350 because of the OS version.

Can anyone that has BBM 5 installed tell me if they get the option to add contact by contact by phone number??
Or like me, only have the option to add contact by PIN or email.
Without this menu you cant use BBM for SMS =(
Shown in the picture and you tube video below.

From what I understand, to see this option you must be running OS 5.0 as well.

Thanks Sunkast.. Some people with 5.0 OS installed have claimed this not to be the case.
If anyone does have this extra menu option ..
Please post the OS and or Hybrid you are currently using.

If you still need assistance please post the followng information in your post:
1) Blackberry Model
2) Operations System - found in options ----> about
3) Phone Carrier
4) Error Message / or situation.
|
1) Curve 8330
2) v4.5.0.160 (Platform 3.4.0.41)
3) Sprint
4) OTA versions say not compatible and trying to install Curve version via DM results in similar message - "This application is not compatible with your device and cannot be loaded".
I even tried this method - link - but still no luck.
After trying all these different methods and them not working, DM won't recognize my BB until I reboot my computer.
Frustrating!!

Welcome to BBOS, I am going to refer you to one of our members who has the same model phone as yourself to see if they can assist. Help is on the way.

Welcome to BlackberryOS. Let me see if I can help you. Let's start troubleshooting from the beginning.
Go to this link from your phone: BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 OTAs
Then click on BBM 5.0 (For 4.5/Curve) - English Only
What happens?
