Lightbulb Adding East Asian Language to OS 5.0.0.XXX

For those of you that need Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai language for the newer OS 5 builds, you can use these files..

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

I took it from the OS 5.0.0.190 build.

Copy the COD files to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9000M_v5.0.0.314_P5.2.0.19(Your OS)\Java

and copy the alx file to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9000M_v5.0.0.314_P5.2.0.19(Your OS)\

When you run apploader, you should be able to choose the east asian language support for the install.

Hehe.. I was using the OS 4.6.0.282 East Asian language files before, but when I copied the files into OS 5.0, it would only allow east asian font support but not input support...

I'm glad this post can help people who needed east asian font support..

Will I be able to load this on to the 9700?

The files will only work for the Bold OS 5.0..

For other devices, you would have to extract the language files from the OS of the same device...

I've tried the method, copy cods to the java, copied the alx to my os.
HOWEVER, under the dive application selection, the CJK method and all that is not pop out!

when i chose browse to locate the cjk.alx under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9000M_v5.0.0.314_P5.2.0.19(Your OS)\, and selected it, i got a wrong message

the application is not compatible with your device and can not be loaded!

Somebody can offer a big hand here?

many thanks!

P.S it's not a good time to update your blackberry while you have exam 5 days later!

i am so nervous about the exam of course, and NOW, my lovely Blackberry!!!

funny things, after reboot the computer, reboot the bold, 9000

it appears, i had the option to install east asian language.

and again, strange thing, when i installed the language pack which is simplified chinese and the input method Chinese simplified Pinyin, after rebooting blah blah

ok now, i can only read chinese, but i can not input any chinese character!

Just Double-checked Pinyin inputs is out there, everything looks fines but just can not type in any words. under the language inputs, the only available language is english Uk and US.

really got knocked out!!

thanks!!!

i do not think it's possible. but what do i know?

I have an idea, Warning:Its just an idea

what i would say is try to download an official firmware for onyx 9700, then under the root there is similar CJX.ALX, do the same thing as arex28 found.

copy all the ja.cod japanese option.cod all jap related cods file to the folder of your original 9000.

then reboot, delete vendor.xml,

reboot again,

try the original 9000 os 5.0, again use app loader

Hm... it did work for the .314 OS.... I haven't tried installing the east asian language support on the .328 as I haven't downloaded it....

As dirtyprice mentioned earlier, somehow only the font support and not the input support worked... I will give this a try on the .328 and see how it goes...

For those of you who wants to know how I extracted the CJK files from the .190 build... I simply opened the CJK.alx file with a text editor (notepad).... then... use the search function to search for "files".... then it should show like this:
<files>
net_rim_tid_chinese_jni_UPR.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_CN_Pinyin_shortcuts. cod
</files>
Copy each .cod file and search the exact file from the Java folder from the OS that has CJK support, then copy the file into a folder.... keep doing it for all .cod files on the CJK.alx...

Hope this info will help some people...
