Having tested 9500_omadrmjAllLang_PBr5.0.0_rel801_PL4.2.0.214_A5 .0.0.484_SmarTone_Vodafone.exe (which is very similar to 9500_omadrmEastAsia_PBr5.0.0_rel801_PL4.2.0.214_A5 .0.0.484_SmarTone_Vodafone.exe except for .sfi file) on my backup 9500 device, I am pleased to report that 5.0.0.484 works very well.

Hi Guys,
Since installing 5.0.0.484 on my 9500 it often (3-4 times a day) gets a white screen with very small text on it and then reboots - (is this the equivalent of a windows blue screen??)

Has anyone experienced these crashes and reboots? One other thing I have noticed is that the phone buzzes just before the reboot...

I would appreciate any solutions or debugging ideas.

It sounds like something is not playing nice with your phone. I would recommend wiping your phone and reloading the operating system. Check to see if everything is ok then start loading third party apps 1 by 1. See if that helps.

Wiped the East Asia 484 and installed the Vodafone 484 and the problem remains. Will try removing apps and adding them one by one.

I guess it depends on your device requirements.
Some devices require a DRM os while other use a non-DRM OS.

Do you know which one your device requires?

From my knowledge there are two types of devices in the 9520/9500 series.
Depending on which one of these devices the carrier decides to sell will make the difference between a DRM device and a non DRM device.

Well look at it the same way then....
Some OS's have Digital Rights Management and others don't.
Hence the DRM and noDRM OS's....

So far I have NOT seen any non-DRM edition of 9500. I believe that 9500 devices marketed through various carriers in many countries have been all DRM editions (HWID: 0x06001404) which work with rim0x06001404OMADRM.sfi.

Meanwhile, two variations of 9520 devices exist - DRM editions (HWID: 0x0D001404) work with rim0x0D001404.sfi, while non-DRM editions (HWID: 0x0E001404) work with rim0x0E001404.sfi. It is NOT possible for us to convert the former into the latter, and vice versa, (in other words, to rewrite HWID) by manipulating a logical software switch or a physical hardware switch (jumpers, DIP switches, etc.) . . . it appears that 9520 devices are NOT equipped with such (hidden) switches.

Sincerely,
