Same of other version, no big problem but not big improvements. however it works without problem. If you have .825 don't download. I hope that next version should really improve (not a little bit) battery, stability and speed.

I have the problem on .912 that every time after I disconnect phone from PC when connected with USB cable, it is EXTREMELY sluggish and slow! Waiting icon displayed almost continuously on all operations. In fact it is so slow that one cannot really move between apps, make calls, sms, nothing! I have tried to leave it to see how long it takes to recover it self, but eventually it brings up the App Resource Monitor and want you to restart device. It then also does not say which app is causing this. Only thing that restores normal operations is a restart/battery pull. Very annoying! Anyone else have same experience on .923 (or other version)? Should I upgrade to .923 or downgrade to .825?

Also, my carrier's 3G signal is extremely crappy so I need the option to switch to EDGE, else my battery drains in half a day switching between 3G and EDGE. Hope either of the 2 versions support EDGE only.

To tjomma: you can try to upgrade.
.923 is better than .825, is a little bit faster, i've never had any problem with .923. If this don't solve your problem the only way is to wipe and install the latest fw.

@tjomma: can you please tell us how it goes after updating to .923? Is it stable or faster? Or is it the opposite?

I have a Bold 9900 through AT&T, but has installed OS updates from a variety of different carriers all over the world. The trick is to search out and delete the "vendor.xml" file on my PC, before I do the installation. Otherwise, it won't load properly. I hope that is helpful.

Have try it already ,is good and i think the best update so far ,coz battery run slightly longer ,os is stable and memory management is good much better ,i can run for few days (of course with direct charging) and without the need for battery pull (which normally i do once a day at least) ,my bb after batt pull and all app i use will give me abt 165mb and still abt 135mb after two days running without restart (which normally will goes to abt 75mb in 1day running) .
I try all os from .170 for each release and this is the best i thinks.
Just reff info ,this 923 ver now ,will turn on the bb faster and after bb on it still waiting a while for the bbm to be ready ,while before will keep the boot till once bb is on mostly the bbm is ready but that method makes my bb eat the new fully charge battery abt 3-5% (and very long boot time abt 15-20mnt) ,so when my bb become on is always only show me 95-97% battery ,but with 923 ver now i can see 99+ batt level again (up to ver 525 is this method) .
After my first update all seems to be ok but half my bb grp is lost (i have 15grp,im a heavy bbm usage) ,best way is just delete the unsuccessful rejoin bb grp and ask other bb grp to reinvite, coz i try to restore it again from my backup ,it makes the whole day my bb never finish boot (stack at abt 90%) then no choice i have to pull battery and it makes the disaster to my bb coz internal memory become corrupted (every boot bar at 50% then turn my bb to white dead screen) and i can't reflash it and even bbsak wipe doesn't works (try many2 times, sometimes it said successfully wipe but it doesn't) coz usb is not detected or unstable connection (keep on loss connect always) .

Goes to bb service said my bb broken need 2month for repair (wtf is it).
Then i try jl_cmd ,after many times and passion try (also by pressing all keyboard button during boot time) suddenly it successful connected and wipe it .
whooolaaaa then reflash is just peace of cake ,after that instead of connect it to my backup i do update the bbm and bbmworld first then i restore my backup ,and run evrything smoothly .

Hope this info can help and be a reff to others
Thanks

still one glitch is ,now if i do a batt pull (i use quickpull soft) sometimes after boot ,it is not detected the media card (its happened this since ver 525 above) ,then just do a restart once again it will back and detected the media card ,but if i do a real batt pull then mostly media card is detected .
I have use 4-5 spare batt and desktop charger which i charge at night normally (so quickpull is not so used to me only sometimes i use) ,instead of using portable batt charger which i must carry bulky batt and cable.

@andy_js - I installed .923...seems to be a bit more stable and battery life better. I also removed WhatsApp so this could also have helped... still did not give me the option to select only 2G. I then downgraded to 7.0, then my carriers latest approved version .714, then .923 again. Now I have 2G as an option under network settings.

It's been almost two months since the last OS update. I wonder if this is the last one we'll get?

@sysconindo: your posts make me dizzy, keep it simple, will you? By the way, I never had any troubles like yours with my Bold 9900.

@tjomma: must be just software/OS glitch, have you used 3rd party software tools to wipe your BlackBerry first before installing the new OS?

@wildcatguy: I'm affraid so, I wouldn't be hoping too much for new OS update ever since the launch of Q10.

@andy_js : I upgarded to 923. Radio signal slightly better, but I lost the "2G" only option. I now only have "3G" or "2G & 3G" which is eating battery life. If I spend some time on the phone (browsing & talking) i have to recharge by 4 PM everyday. Browser performance somewhat better. Reboot slightly faster, but I need it less now! I haven't noticed any other major improvements or changes.

I only use the BB Desktop software to upgrade. Not aware of any other way...just for info, if anyone maybe want to downgrade this is how i do it:

CAUTION! do a complete backup first as this will wipe everything completely! You can restore the backup afterwards.
1. Start BB Desktop Manager (BBDM) and do FULL BACKUP. Close BBDM.
2. Disconnect phone from computer.
3. Load OS you want to downgrade to on the computer. Remember to search for the "vendor.xml" file and delete before restarting BB Desktop Manager.
4. Remove phone battery, start BBDM and reconnect phone to computer.
5. After a few minutes (could be 5 or 10) BB Desktop Manager will detect phone and indicate that OS must be re-installed. It should make the phone screen white while this is happening...remember this will brick the phone of you do anything to BBDM or disconnect, so give to time!!
6. Follow the on screen prompts to select the applicable OS.
7. When OS installation starts, replace the battery while still connected to the computer.
8. Then sit back and hope for the best! No seriously I have done this a few times to different BBs over the years.

Good luck!
