Download the new os to your computer
Plug your phone into the PC and back it up with desktop manager and then exit out of the desktop manager.
install the OS by right clicking on the .exe file (run as administrator). and install to your computer
Go go your drive-program Files (x86)-common files-research in motion-apploader.
You'll see at the bottom, a vendor.xml file, right click on it and delete it.
You'll also need to search for a second vendor.xml file http://www.blackberryos.com/blackber...-xml-file.html

Then go back into the apploader folder where you deleted the first vendor.xml and right click on the loader.exe at the top and run as admin.

The computer will install the program on your phone about 25-30 minutes.

This was a quick Cliff Notes version..

I tried using this one, but it scrambled my Address Book, randomly assigning different names and email addresses to incoming messages. That made for an interesting game of "email roulette," wondering who the messages were really from.

So, I rolled back to version 746, and the problem went away.

I installed 7.1.0.794 then maps, traffic, messenger, appworld and password keeper disappeared not just icons but the app itself. Tried several re-installation no results, got password keeper alx files and appworld then traffic and messenger from BB site so theses are now working. But I still need my blackberry maps. From BB sites attempting to download gives me "sorry device does not meet system requirements". Anyone has latest BB maps alx and cod files thanks in advance.

Has try this version for couple weeks ,jump from version 523 .
Battery and memory usage seem better but during bb startup was drain much more battery ,by using ver 523 after my spare battery charger by my external desktop charger normally till bb ready for use still i can get 100% of my battery and 4.200mv (with battery watch app) ,by this ver it give me only 95-98% .

Also this is my first experience (from so many update os) that the bbm sometimes was not deliver to the destination (even it show "d" then "r" after my friend open his bbm) which for me actually BBM messenger is the only advantage of using this gadget actually ,sending photo/picture also sometimes never really reach it destination (tested from 5 sending only 2 is receive) ,but receiving all is ok (bbm+photo) .

Upgrade to ver 825 and it back to normal reliability of BBM

Other than that was works fine .
