Desktop Manager for Mac released!
No we're not pulling your leg this time. You read that head line right. RIM has officially made Desktop Manager for Mac available to download. RIM had delayed the launch for some unknown reason pushing the release to this month. As been said before, better late than never. About a week ago the Inside BlackBerry Blog took you through a detailed walk through of the new software. Now is your chance to check out Desktop Manager for Mac yourself.
It has most of the same features as the Windows version but looks a lot sexier. You can easily sync your data from iCal®, Address Book, and Microsoft® Entourage®. Automatically backing up your device is simple and includes the ability to encrypt the data too. It does more than the usual things you expect too. Integrated into Desktop Manager for Mac is BlackBerry Media Sync which enables you to sync with iTunes with your BlackBerry. Creating a playlist including song information and album art can also be done from within Desktop Manager
The way RIM has made the software look for and install OS updates looks slick too. Any time a BlackBerry device is connected, it will look for updates. If you are familiar with using App Loader, this will look familiar. More useful in fact as it gives you the ability to easily backup your data including third party application. Though backups are stored in a new format, .bbb, if you have an old back up in the .ipd format, it will be still be compatible. Overall it feels well laid out and easy to use.
