Thread: Whats up with my 4.7 DM??!!?

(using this all on my laptop, with windows vista)

Some weird things have been happening with my DM. I have uninstalled and installed old and new versions but still, all the same things happen.

I downloaded the 5.0 device software to load it on the phone (phone was wiped) and once I opened the DM (through program files > common files > RIM > etc. . .) I clicked on app loader and then loader. . .

Everything went smooth until after the phone was recognized. Instead of it asking the options to deal with applications or OS files, it just directs me to what applications I can load onto the phone.

Essentially what my problem is, is that the DM won't let me load my OS files to the phone. (fortunately I have a desktop that I can do it on)

Any feedback on how to possibly fix this would be amazing.

Mind you, I had the 5.0 DM originally, now I even tried it with 4.7 DM but still gets the same result. I would really like to fix this issue so i do not have use my desktop anymore.

i always use the app loader to install new os's.you might try that

it sounds like u used app loader from the folder to load ur OS, not DM. But none the less, DM has been updated to v 5.0.1 or something like that. I have updated my DM when the first 5.0os for the storm came out. Maybe try opening up DM w/o the phone being connected and click the "check updates" it should show that u can upgrade ur DM to v5 and do that, and then try to install the OS to the phone.

okay, so I re-downloaded the DM 5.0

I went to install my OS through app loader but it still only lets me configure the applications that I backed up. It doesn't even give me an option or chance to configure the OS files.

This is getting to be a very frustrating day. . .

did you make sure all other device software is deleted from your pc? using control panel>remove software

yes definitely, I made sure after u said that, I even went so far as to delete the zipped files just to have them off of my computer. . .i don't know what else to do. . .:17:

it 's happened exactly to me ! I have tried severals time on both BDM 4.7 and BDM 5.O to load OS 5.0 154 on my 9500 storm and the results exactly like MARKY's case ....
before these ! wiped my phone ...delete vendor file .....only OS 5.0 154 in my lappy....load OS by loader.exe ......load OS by BDM ......things went smooth with OS 5.0 new software update for your phone show up ( pop up window ) and then reading your phone ( update process ) .....but all of both ways end up with .....there no software available for your update ......and just give me an option to finish update !!!!!
and nothing happen for my updare OS .........drove me crazy ........really dont know what to do ....

please help ! could anyone in the forum do me a favor to solve out .......

your os is for 9500 and not 9530 right? if so try loading with the loader file and not the DM. make sure your DM is closed before you launch the loader file.

yes ! I am on 9500 vodafone and my current OS is 167 ....after failed with loader.exe I used load OS by BDM but it 's failed too....
the weird things on both ways are the process still good until reading your phone ( the process says in window pop up ) and then end up with a window list of my applicaitons on my phone and give me no choice to update to a new OS ..only finish button there to use .....thanks for quick reply and any ideas about it .
