Thread: Desktop Manager sync issues

When using Desktop Manager 4.7, I have the settings configured to sync automaticly when I connect my Storm. Under the config settings I have MS Outlook set to over-ride the device on conflicts. I noticed that during the sync process, the count of messages is much higher than Outlook. I ask because I just spent a lot of time cleaning up over 400 old messages in Outlook and I exspected it to sync to the same on the phone.

Outlook: 679 messages
Phone: 1123 messages

Any suggestions?

Delete all your messages on your phone. Close out OUtlook reboot your PC then try resyncing.

How do you sync messages ? this is new to me lol

Let me ask you this first.....Do you have the Desktop Manager installed on your PC?

The Desktop Manager has an application that will allow you to synchronize your email messages and/or data from your PC to your handset or vice versa. You can also sync both ways at the same way.
If you look to the lower right hand corner of the screen in your DM, you will find a heading named Synchronize. So if you select this application you will be directed to the configuration screen. In the middle of this screen you will find under the Bold Title Synchronize, four boxes. For message purposes we will select the box for synchronize organizer data. Now to the left of these boxes, you should see Synchronize, Configure, Sychronazation, Reconciliation, and Add-ins. Select Synchronization. You will then be directed to the Sychronazation configuration screen. From here select the tab for sychronazation that is located on the left of the screen shot. The DM will now begin to run the Wizard for Synchronization. You will now configure how you PC and you device will sync. Select which type of data by checking or unchecking the boxes you want your Handset to sync to your PC. Now select OK. Now you will be back in the Sychronazation configuration screen. In the upper left select synchronize. You should now be back to the main Synchronize screen. The tab in the middle of the screen will now run your syncronazation between your PC and your handset according to how you set the sync up during the sync wizard. Follow all of the on screen instruction if any and if you have any problems please let myself or someone in the Help Team know.

well i see that but there is nothing to sync messages or anything like that.

Is your mail handling application (ie. Microsoft Outlook) configured to receive the email that you receive on your device? Say for instance...On my device I have ran the email wizard on my device to receive a copy of the emails I recieve on my work related PC. Now then when I connect my handset to my PC at work if there are any differences between the data on my Outlook and on my handset the sychronazation application make sure the data is the same. So if I delete a message on my handset and it dosen't delete it wirelessly on outlook, the moment I connect my device to my work PC it will make sure the two sources are the same. It work's the other way around as well.

Does this make cents? Hope it helps

I don't believe it will work with previously stored information before the sync. I could be wrong.
