Blackberry 9000.msi & Desktop Manager message!

Here's the story :

My computer got infected by virus that made me delete some windows registry. To make the story short, my computer is no longer infected...

But... I can't open BBSAK.. It asks me to install blackberry 9000.msi (since my device is Bold 9000). And I couldn't open Desktop Manager either...

I have reinstalled the Desktop manager. but still it asks me for .msi....

Any information on this?

Looks like you are missing some registry extensions for Desktop Manager.

This is a document that I was able to find that might help.
Let us know if you were successful.

How to perform a clean uninstall of the BlackBerry Desktop Software

Once you finish the uninstall, find and download the Desktop Manager again.

Just did all those tasks, but still when I open DM, it still asks me for .msi which I can't find :17:

Can you give me word for word what the error is please?

Last bit of advice as well.....
Uninstall the OS from your PC then download a fresh copy of the OS you want to install onto your device or download the OS that you currently have on your device.

Sorry... I can't open BBoS last night.. don't know why..

So.. Everytime I open DM, windows installer pops up

When I click Ok

new window pops up

"The path
.................... cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try find the installation package "Blackberry 9000.msi" in a folder from which you can install the product BlackBerry Device SOftawre v5.0.0 for the BlackBerry 9000 smartphone"

I have tried to uninstall the OS via add/remove program, but then it also asked me for blackberry 9000.msi -.-"

Sounds like u have some spyware or something going on. Instead of clicking ok can u click browse and select the blackberry 9000.msi file?

Some how or another we need to get that OS off your PC. The OS is corrupted and you need to uninstall and reinstall the OS.

See if you can use this program to take it off your PC.

CCleaner

Once installed, navigate to the "Tools" section and use the uninstall feature within this program.

If all else fails, you can format and reinstall windows on your machine.

CCcleaner failed to help me... I just installed an old OS v.5.0 and WALLA... I can uninstall the OS and open the DM...

What exactly did you install?
Did you say an old OS and if so did you install it with the current PC that we have been working with or did you install the OS with a different PC?

Yep.. An older OS 5.0.0.509 Wind Hellas... And yes the current PC that couldn't find the blackberry 9000.msi

Edit : Jeez... I can only uninstall the 509 LoL... but the DM can run smoothly now... hm... guess I have to format my Windows then...

I wonder if you can now uninstall the other OS?
The installation of 5.0.0.509 has inadvertently filled in the missing piece of the puzzle!

I thought so too.... But unfortunately, the blackberry 9000.msi that is needed for the uninstall is not the same from 509.

I remember it was 554... Tried to install the 554 without removing it first, and it asked for the same 9000.msi... pfft....:17::aargh4::17:

OMG... I'm so smart XD LoL (I couldn't resist it)

I reinstall the .554 file... it extracts 9000.msi... and it couldn't find the file... so I decided to use search function.. and found it......... and that's.... the missing.. puzzle... HUFF!

now the problem is really ended

Now you should be showing 2 OS builds on your PC and hopefully you are able to delete 1 of them if not both.

Both can be deleted now :haha: the missing piece was blackberry 9000.msi for .554 (the last OS I had installed)
Maybe it got deleted by accident by the Anti-Virus...

So just install the 554 again... wait until it extracts blackberry 9000.msi and failed to locate it. Use the windows search function for blackberry 9000.msi (search for hidden files too)..

Incase anyone else is experiencing this issue, you don't need to go through all those steps, there is only ony thing you need to do. The issue was always the device OS installer that you used to update the device OS. Downloading the device OS installation file from RIM for your particular carrier via http ://ca.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp and installing it, will allow you to install, remove, and/or open the Desktop manager. This app is where the missing MSI's are stored.
