error when trying to reinstall backup files
My wife had to get a replacement phone so we backup her stuff using the dm. Then our computer crashed. Got the computer back up and running and go to put her stuff on her phone and I get "desktop doesn't recognize files" error. So I uninstalled the dm, updated my .net framework, re-installed dm and still errors. I tried my backup files and same thing. Any ideas of what the issue is or what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Not too sure here, how did you restore your PC, can you freely access/copy your backup files from within windows? Just to make sure, it's not a win user access problem.
Do you use 'KeePass' on your BBs? Some users experienced backup issues when this app was installed on the device.
Can you "open" the backup file(s) with DM in "advanced backup/restore" to potentially find single items in the backup being corrupted somehow?

I ran into this at one point when I had redone the OS on my phone and didnt have a newer backup on my work PC but when I got home and had a 1 day old one it was fine. I am wondering if something is not corrupt. You dont by chance have another back up some where do you?>

well thats the funny thing. previous to comp issue we had no issues backing up, lots of experience with our old 8330's. when i got my comp up i had to download the dm, while doing that errored out saying i had to update my .net framework. so after that whole ordeal got the dm loaded, went to restore and the errors started. tried her old files, then my old files, all the same. so i backed up mine phone to the dm, tried using that and it worked but that brought on other silly issues that i didnt think of, my email on her phone etc.. that is now resolved but want to get her old info on her phone. thanks

have you tried this:
"open" the backup file(s) with DM in "advanced backup/restore" to potentially find single items in the backup being corrupted somehow
