• WIND Mobile Partners With Nokia Networks To Deploy LTE In Canada

    WIND Mobile is acting on their recent spectrum acquisitions in a game changing way. After purchasing a significant amount of AWS-3 Spectrum back in March, WIND had originally planned to start the rollout of their LTE network in 12-18 months. According to their press release today, WIND has partnered with Nokia Networks to deploy what will be one of the most advanced LTE networks in Canada, giving them a strong foothold into being Canada's #4 wireless carrier.

    • Nokia Networks becomes sole supplier for LTE and cloud-based core technologies

    TORONTO, Dec. 10, 2015 /CNW/ - Nokia Networks will work with WIND Mobile as its sole network infrastructure provider and innovation partner to bring the most advanced LTE network technology to Canadians. Nokia Networks will deploy cloud-based core technologies that enable VoLTE, VoWi-Fi and IMS services. By implementing cutting-edge technologies, offloading its voice traffic and better utilizing its spectrum, WIND will significantly increase network capacity and speed, achieve substantial network efficiency gains and deliver a better network experience for its customers.

    Under the five-year deal, Nokia Networks will provide a comprehensive end-to-end solution that includes deployment of new radio LTE, LTE virtualized core and OSS (NetAct to support the LTE and core elements). The company will also deploy a full cloud-based core based on OpenStack, which will include all of the elements: IMS, HSS, VoLTE, VoWi-Fi and Evolved Packet Core.

    The modernization of WIND's network will involve network implementation, network planning and optimization and care services in order to ensure consistent quality and a successful upgrade. Nokia Networks will also provide cloud wise services, including systems integration for VoLTE and packet core deployment.
