If you're like me, when you were a kid you couldn't wait for the end of the 10pm news on Christmas Eve to find out if the U.S. Air Force had picked up Santa's sleigh on their radar and dispatched jets to escort Saint Nick safely across the country as he delivered toys to all the kids.
Well fast forward a few years and it's not just shiny fighter jets and ginormous transport planes that the Air Force has modernized, the boys in blue at the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD for short) have completely modernized the way kids of all ages can track Santa Claus on his yearly world wide toy delivery run.
NORAD has teamed with the folks at Visionbox to bring you the NORAD Tracks Santa app for your BlackBerry smart phone. Watch the days countdown to Santa's flight, follow Santa's progress on December 24, play "Thin Ice" to help Santa's elves deliver presents, and learn about NORAD and its mission. The app is free and available via Snap, Google Play Store or downloading the APK directly.
Not to be outdone, Google has created their own Santa Tracking App, called (what else) The Google Santa Tracker. Play games with elves in jetpacks, rolling gumballs, sleighs powered by rockets and Google Cardboard. Once the 24th arrives, follow Santa in his journey around the world. The app works in conjunction with Google Maps so make sure you have that installed as well. It's available via Snap and the Google Play Store, as well as downloading the APK directly.
