• Stop It, The Z10 Doesn't Look Like The iPhone 5

Possibly one of the most annoying things that I've had to endure listening to and reading about the new BlackBerry Z10 is how it "looks like an iPhone 5." It not only makes me scratch my head in disbelief, but also makes me think what the heck people could be seeing that I'm not.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that's seen or heard this comparison so I've decided to put together a nice list of just physical/cosmetic differences for anyone that needs a reference for future arguments.

    The front

The Z10 doesn't have a single button anywhere on the front of the device, so that right there is the biggest difference between it and the iPhone, which has a home button.

The Z10 is also a physically bigger device than the iPhone. Standing at 5.4.87” x 2.31” x 0.30”, the iPhone looks relatively small compared to the Z10's 5.12” x 2.58” x 0.35” size.

The iPhone 5 has its front facing camera in the middle, front top of the device, the Z10 has it on the top right-hand side.

The top and bottom of the front of the Z10 is also completely different because it's not glass. It's made out of the same material as the sides, again big difference.

    The back

The backside of each phone is also completely different. The Z10's back has a somewhat rubberized feeling to it. BlackBerry refers to it as "soft touch" and it's designed to help you grip the phone better. The iPhone 5's back is made out of aluminum, which is why it's so easy to bend.

    The sides

The BlackBerry Z10 features microUSB and a microHDMI ports on the left side of the device, something that the iPhone does not have on either side. The two devices' volume rockers are also on opposite ends up of each (left on the iPhone, right on the Z10).

The Z10 also features a dedicated play/pause button between the two volume rockers that when held also enables voice control.

So you see, the only similarities between these two devices are that they're a vertical slab of glass that you can touch and interact with. And that's not even getting into the comparisons between the two's inside specs. Maybe we'll do that one at a later time. For now, just know that your (future) Z10 is pretty unique and doesn't look anything like the iPhone.
