  • Snowden Dishes BlackBerry's Secrets In New Report

Big news has just dropped from Russia. Former NSA worker, Edward Snowden has released more documents in his latest NSA Document release. According to the newest document dump, it has been disclosed that BlackBerry (formerly Research In Motion) had entered into an agreement with the NSA to allow backdoor access to all BBM Messages, emails, texts and PIN messages.

This agreement had started back in 2008 when the NSA had approached RIM in hopes of gaining access to the ultra encrypted security of BlackBerry phones. The documents show that the NSA had trouble from the start with their ultra secret PRISM surveillance systems ability to break into the secure BlackBerry ecosystem.

The NSA, after three years failure and only gaining the ability to spy on most of the world's scores on the BlackBerry apps of BrickBreaker and Word Mole, decided to cut bait and approach RIM and simply ask for access.

The newly released documents show that the NSA was allowed total access to the Waterloo Campus and all their secrets just by being able to friend request co-CEO Mike Lazaridis on BBM.

One classified document shows a higher up but redacted NSA official as saying, "It was shockingly easy. All we had to do was ask for a friend request and boom, the world was our oyster."

The documents also show that there was frustration in data collection. "Analysts are having sporadic and intermittent problems when accessing phone data. It seems that BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) goes down on occasion. Frustrating and annoying. Why didn't we try iMessage??!!", asks the report.

No word on just why Mr. Snowden decided to release this set of documents. But Pravda does report that Mr. Snowden is a great fan of April Fools pranks.
