As of today, there are FOUR BlackBerry handsets that developers can take advantage of to make their apps work with Suretap:
- BlackBerry Bold 9900
- BlackBerry Curve 9360
- BlackBerry Bold 9790
- BlackBerry Z10 models
Last year, we saw BlackBerry become the first mobile device to make a credit card payment and it is encouraging to see this continued support from Rogers with the new BlackBerry 10 line.
Android handsets include The LG Optimus G, Samsung Galaxy S III and Note II models.
“To continue driving adoption and growth of mobile payments in Canada, it is essential that a strong ecosystem is established to include multiple devices, operating systems and payment networks,” said Jeppe Dorff, Vice-President of Transaction Services, Rogers. “We know our customers have strong affinity to the Android platform and we are thrilled to include Android devices amongst smartphones ready to support mobile payment applications built for suretap.”
Suretap is a service launched by Rogers last year. The service enables the payment service to work in combination with a secure SIM and NFC capabilities of mobile handsets. Today, tens of thousands of suretap SIM cards and hundreds of thousands of suretap mobile payment -ready devices are being used by Canadians to perform mobile payments.
Hopefully, Canadians will be able to take advantage of this latest development soon!
