• RIM hires software architect David Yach as Vice President

12 years ago today, the Vice President and Chief Architect of Sybase, Inc., joined RIM at the position of Vice President, Software. His new position will head the development of software for RIM's wireless communications.

During his tenure there from 1989, David Yach led the development of the Adaptive Component Architecture, which gathered more than 100 Sybase products and placed them all into one cohesive strategy. He also ran the Mobile and Embedded Computing Division, which was responsible for the industry's first ultra small database for handheld devices including RIM's Pager 950, Palm computing, Windows CE and Symbian EPOC platforms.
