  • RIM cuts approx. 2000 positions, lays plans to restructure senior management

In a press release, dated this morning, RIM detailed it's plans to slim down it's workforce in accordance with it's cost optimization program, announced on June 16th. Coupled with a few senior management losses, mainly Ryan Bidan to Samsung, and Chief Operating Officer Don Morrison, who is retiring, RIM's plan to streamline it's operations could bring the Gitmo Nation Great White North smartphone maker back into the spotlight.

With no word yet on shareholders push to separate the co-CEO roles of Jim Balsille and Mike Lazaridis, who have been directed to prove that sharing the CEO title would benefit the company, RIM will, however, detail more of its cost optimization program in the company's next earnings call in mid-September.
