• RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie Confirms OS 6.1 to be called BlackBerry OS 7

Yesterday we posted a rumor that BlackBerry OS 6.1 would become known as BlackBerry OS 7. That rumor now becomes fact as RIM co-CEO, Jim Balsillie has confirmed that OS 6.1 will be now known as OS 7 during a Q&A Investors Call. His reasons are that 'OS 7' includes liquid graphics, magnetometer, and more, which gives the OS enough differences from OS 6. Therefore, labeling the new OS only .1 away is far too minuscule. They concluded that BlackBerry World attendees will not be let down on the coming announcements and clarification.

The negative about this report is that many users are speculating on whether their newly bought devices that run the current OS 6 will be getting the update to OS 7. Any thoughts to this?
